Volunteer

Meetings (see events calendar for regular and committee meeting dates)

Members of the Fellowship can volunteer to join any of the following committees

  • Educational: research, publication of educational materials, out-reach, Metlar-Bodine House educational programs
  • Preservation: Metlar-Bodine House preservation and archaeological work, buildings and site;
  • Collection: accessions, artifact conservation. It should be noted that the Fellowship, over the years, has acquired “many artifacts” related to the history of the township. The building must be considered the largest artifact in the collection and treated as such with regard to the museum’s accessions policy.
  • Heritage Tourism: events, visitor services, programming, tours, gift shop, exhibit development
  • Public Relations: newsletter, website, media, linking with other cultural and historic and civic groups, government affairs
  • Metlar-Bodine House Strategic Planning Committee, a permanent museum committee that involves itself in staffing, scheduling, maintenance of the building, working with architects leadership roles of the Fellowship, etc.
  • Finance and Development: budget planning and oversight, grants, fundraising (events, membership drives, direct mail, phone solicitations), financial planning, planned gift programs, membership, Capital Campaign

You do not however have to be a member of the Fellowship for Metlar House to volunteer at the museum. Please call 732 463 8363 if you wish to: help with grounds upkeep, give tours, do office work, work in the gift shop, develop the four centuries of kitchen gardens exhibit, do research about the house, the collection or the township, etc.
