Adopt an Artifact

The museum’s collection contains many artifacts that need to be conserved by professionals. Since the fire, artifacts harmed by the excessive heat, smoke, and water have been restored by conservators. Most of the artifacts in the collection need some type of conservation in order to assure their future survival. Periodically artifacts that need to be stabilized or restored will be featured on this web site. Individuals who adopt an artifact by donating to its conservation will receive a certificate suitable for framing and with consent will be publicly recognized for their contribution.

A large donation was made toward the restoration of this GAR flag. 

Callard Clock

Edith Mae Gullick Callard presented this clock to the Metlar-Bodine House on the museum’s opening day in September of 1980. The clock, circa 1860s, sat on the mantle of her Randolphville (Randolphville is an area of Piscataway, NJ) home for as long as she could remember. Harmed by the 2003 fire it was lovingly restored by conservator Tom Heller,  Conservation Services, Tennessee.
